Japanese Toolbox
Japanese Toolbox
Traditionally, Japanese carpenters crafted their own wooden toolboxes from whatever timber was available. Though utilitarian in purpose, these boxes, made by skilled hands, were sturdy and resilient enough for daily use. I’ve always admired the clean, functional elegance of their construction, from the exposed through-tenon joints that bind the box together to the simple yet ingenious wedge mechanism that locks the lid in place.
Inspired by this timeless design, I’ve created my own interpretation: a robust, handcrafted toolbox made from redwood pine. Its lines are understated, its form purposeful, and its build quality suited to years of hard work. Whether you’re a carpenter, DIYer, painter, or photographer, you need a dependable place to store the tools of your trade. This box offers not only practicality, but a piece you’ll appreciate as much as the tools it holds.
Dimensions: L 440mm x W 220mm x H 145mm
